Acts 2 United Methodist Church is a dream that has become reality through the vision of Dr. Mark Foster and the leadership of the United Methodist Church in Oklahoma. In 1999, more than 250,000 Oklahoma United Methodists around the state decided to support a new church for the growing area of northwest Edmond, Deer Creek and north Oklahoma City.

While worshipping on Saturday nights in a variety of rented spaces, Acts 2 purchased 35 acres at the corner of Pennsylvania and Covell in the spring of 1999.

We worshipped at a local Disciples of Christ church, moving to Edmond North High School for two years, then to Cheyenne Middle school for five years. In 2005, we broke ground for the first Acts 2 facility on the land purchased six years prior.

The first worship service at our facility at 4848 W. Covell in Edmond was held in July 2006 in what is now the Chapel.

It did not take long for the worship space of 242 chairs to become full, and we increased to two worship services on Sunday mornings. One year later, we added another Sunday worship service and then a Friday night worship service.

On May 19th, 2013, we paid off the building we had built, and we had already grown so much that we had to begin planning the next step in our church growth – expanding what is now our current facility.

With that increase in space, we continued having two worship times on Sunday morning while keeping the Friday night worship service.  We then sunsetted our Friday night service on September 2, 2016 so that we could focus on new, exciting things coming up in 2017.

Acts 2 regularly worships between 500 and 600 people on a weekend. Throughout the years of growth, we are happy that we have become a large church, but have still kept the small church feel.

In Fall 2016, we launched One Church. One Church is a new community for new people seeking to change the world with the love of God. Our hope is that One Church will develop a growing and unified community that loves God and others in an authentic, life-giving and transformational way. One Church meets on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in the Acts 2 Chapel.

Our Vision & Beliefs

Acts 2 UMC began as a dream placed by God in the hearts of a few people. Today in our church, hundreds worship weekly, tens of thousands of dollars are given each year to help others and an increasing number of people are being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, professing their faith openly and asking the Holy Spirit, “What would you like to do through me today?”

Our vision, dream, goal and strategy as an individual church guide us daily while our beliefs keep us united with Christians all around the world.

Our Dream:

To create a people who Sing God’s praises, Serve God’s children, and Share God’s salvation until Christ comes again.

Our Goal:

To help non-religious and non-active Christians become radical Christ followers.

Our Strategy (Acts 2:42):

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

Our Beliefs:

Our beliefs are a continuation of the historic Christian faith as expressed in the ancient profession of faith known as the Apostles' Creed:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified dead and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Our Vision:

Acts 2’s vision is to be a biblically functioning community using Acts 2:42 as a guide to all that we do. Acts 2:42 says, “They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers.”

We believe this happens by the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit of God.

Our vision includes expanding the Kingdom of God to places that do not have churches. To do that, we must spread the light of Jesus Christ beyond the church walls through our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness. So each week’s worship service, each class and each mission project we do focuses on equipping, sending and supporting men and women in the full-time service of Jesus Christ so they may be a light to others and give the glory to God.

It is the desire and mission of Acts 2 to start other healthy churches that will, one day, be healthy enough to start even more churches. We have daughter churches as far as Africa and as close as east Edmond. Our newest daughter church, Connect UMC, became an official United Methodist Church in 2013. Connect moved into their permanent building at Sorghum Mill and Coltrane in Fall 2016.
