Recreation has always been an important part of my life, and I believe that teamwork is a very important part of recreation, whether it be as a VBS leader, volunteer or participant. Sports ministry is a great way to reach all kids and adults, especially those that don’t feel comfortable in big groups. That’s why I think Hero Central VBS is going to be an awesome time.

At Hero Central VBS, we will be learning about three Bible heroes and how God can give us strength when we feel weak. We have one game that allows the kids to build up a City of David and defend it from other teams. Some other games include relay races. I wish I could give you more details, but I don’t want to give up all my secrets.

Every day before the first group of kids arrives, the recreation team meets to go over all the rules, what the theme is and how they can help make the games enjoyable for everyone. Then, with every group of kids, we start with a little story about the verse of the day or the theme of the day, go over the rules and then it’s game on. After the game, we talk about what the kids learned in the game and how it fits with the daily theme.

My hope for Hero Central VBS is that everyone sees that the heroes of the Bible did incredible feats in Jesus’ name and that through Jesus we all have super powers. I can’t wait to see everyone at VBS!

With great faith comes great things.
