Following Jesus is the most important decision we will ever make. Confirmation exists to help prepare young people in 6th grade and older to make that decision and experience the fullness of life as a disciple of Jesus.
Confirmation is a long-standing Christian tradition and holds a special place in our United Methodist heritage. It gives those who were baptized as infants the ability to confirm the decision made on their behalf to become faithful members of the body of Christ. For those who have never been baptized, confirmation provides the opportunity to make that life-defining decision and enter into the body of Christ through the sacrament of baptism.
We will meet on Sunday mornings at 10:45am beginning Sunday, September 13, 2026 through Sunday, April 25, 2027, covering lessons from the Old Testament, New Testament, historic Christian teachings, and the United Methodist tradition. Each confirmand will receive their own workbook and Bible. Class sessions will contain a time of teaching followed by discussion with adult and youth mentors. We will also have a fall retreat at Canyon Camp on September 18-19, 2026 that all confirmands and at least one parent is required to attend. There is a $99 investment for each confirmand, and once you register, you will receive an email with instructions on how to make that investment. If the investment is a hardship, please contact Courtney Blacksten. We do not want money to be an obstacle for anyone who wants to be part of Confirmation.
Orientation will be on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 12:15pm in the Chapel in building A. All confirmands, parents/guardians, mentors, and staff will meet to review the confirmation schedule, discuss expectations, and allow for any questions that anyone has about the class or process.
