Dear Church,

With the three Christian values of “1. Do no harm, 2. Love God, and 3. Love one another” in mind, your Administrative Council on Sunday, October 4th unanimously passed a motion “to start every other week in-person worship beginning October 25 with future consideration for additional dates in December.” I am thankful for their thoughtful and prayerful consideration on behalf of all of us. Our current online Sunday schedule will remain unchanged: 7am On-Demand, 9:15am Church Online, 10:45am Church Online.

When exactly are those in-person dates? In-person dates for the 10:45am worship service currently include: October 25, November 8, November 22, December 6, and December 20. Church leadership is still working on a potential date of Friday, December 18 for our Traveler’s Candlelight Service and a safe-schedule for Christmas Eve on December 24. The Sunday after Christmas will be online only.

What happens on the other Sundays? The church is more than a building and more than a worship service. To live out our calling as the people of God on mission with God, we will gather in the parking lot from 11am to noon:

  • On November 1, to receive food items for the hungry and deliver them to our ministry partners. We hope to see you. We will need volunteers to receive and distribute the food and we hope all of our community will drive by to drop off food for the hungry. Matthew 25:35, “for I was hungry and you gave me food…”
  • On November 15, we will gather to serve our community by blessing teachers who are serving others daily.
  • On November 29, we will gather at 11am to decorate the sanctuary building to celebrate the coming of Jesus at Christmas.

What to expect at 10:45am in-person worship?
Expect warm hospitality in the backyard with coffee and donuts by the play area starting at 10:30am. Expect to wear a mask in the buildings and sit every other row at least six feet apart from other families. Expect an excellent nursery for vaccinated children ages 0-3 years and a required reservation to our Nursery Coordinator, Mandy Horneber. Expect life-changing children and youth ministry opportunities with students in masks and details from our Children’s Director, Meagan Durham and Youth Director, Taylor Downey. You will need to reserve a place for your child or youth in order for us to plan for “Safe Sanctuary” procedures for both COVID-19 and an appropriate number of volunteers.

While we are moving forward with these plans, I am also aware that “Oklahoma set a record for coronavirus-related hospitalizations on Tuesday. As of the nightly Executive Order report, 738 Oklahomans were hospitalized with either confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19.” The Administrative Council is scheduled to meet two more times before the end of the year: November 1st for Charge Conference and December 6. Please continue to pray for them and the staff as we continue to seek God’s will to do the next loving and right thing for our neighbor and one another.
